Major Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Java developer with experience in the use of developing Java Portal applications, with solid knowledge of J2EE and JSP to support the needs of our US customer. The technical challenges are vast and exciting, whilst providing the candidate with ample opportunity to increase and enhance their technical and leadership skills.
We will rely on this resource to be able to use a wide range of technical skills to support the development of new functionality whilst also assisting in driving process improvements and upgrade requirements as they occur.
This is a unique opportunity and requires an individual capable of working independently and in a variety of capacities. You must have strong credentials and track record in the knowledge and use of a significant portion of the above-mentioned skills, as well as excellent communication skills to be considered for this position.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate should have a recognized third level IT qualification and have 3-5 years software development experience.
- Must have 3-5 years experience in IT development with a proven ability to design innovative solutions, and deliver quality software to strict standards and schedules through own efforts and those of others.
- Have worked with CMM or ISO in a previous company.
- Experience of developing Java Portal applications, Strong knowledge of J2EE, JSP, JSF, Java , WebSphere 6.0 / 6.1, Rational Application Developer v7.0 and v7.5, XML, XSL, UDB , JavaScript , HTML , J2EE is essential.
- Experience of MQ-Series, Unix, SQL, and ANT are desired but not essential.
- Must be willing to work between from 11am to 7pm.
- This position may require travel to the US from time to time.
- Must be self-motivated and capable of handling multiple assignments and have the ability to effectively resolve conflicting priorities. This should be complemented by excellent organizational skills, initiative and effective follow up and follow through.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work on a one-person project in addition to working effectively within a multi-person project. Must be able to remain focused and deliverable-oriented while working independently.
- Be capable of producing documented requirements, developing designs, preparing and executing test plans and adhering strictly to defined processes.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, specifically demonstrating the ability to liaise effectively with users from internal and external departments.
- Must be capable of working under pressure and to tight deadlines, while demonstrating flexibility in order to deliver urgent requests when necessary
- Ability to analyze data and problems.
- Must have experience in estimating time and cost on project work
- Strong performance ethos and personal commitment for outstanding customer service.
